BONNEVILLE & SON RAISES

$3,100 TO FIGHT HUNGER

Employees of Manchester?s Bonneville & Son Chrysler Jeep Dodge Kia and their families raised $3,100 recently in the 15th Annual Walk Against Hunger to benefit New Horizons for New Hampshire, Inc., the homeless shelter and soup kitchen in the city. Sporting their official Walk Against Hunger T-shirts, the walkers joined about a thousand others to raise over $100,000. ?This was Team Bonneville?s first time in the walk,? said Bonneville & Son General Manager John Berry. ?We were pleased to raise enough money to be the Top New Business Participant.?

The four-mile walk, designed to generate funding for and awareness of the needs of the homeless population in Manchester, began at the downtown Veterans Park. Mayor Frank Guinta welcomed the walkers and thanked both volunteers and participants for their dedication to the city and support of New Horizons? mission. The Manchester Police Department briefed the walkers on the route and provided two Manchester mounted patrolmen as a special police escort. Lindsey Graham, the reining Miss New Hampshire, served as the honorary Grand Marshall and sang the National Anthem.

New Horizons provides primary shelter to approximately 70 men and 25 women each night, and over 200 hot meals each day to men, women and seniors. In addition, New Horizons aids area families with over 1,000 bags of supplemental groceries per month to help ensure proper nutrition and make ends meet. New Horizons? emergency food, medical care and housing is a vital safety net during these stressful economic times. A non-profit organization, New Horizons depends almost entirely upon donations, which individuals, groups or businesses can make at 199 Manchester Street or online at NewHorizonsforNH.org
